Worcestershire has been rocked by the death of promising 20-year-old left-arm spinner Josh Baker.
Baker was found dead in his apartment by a friend after he didn’t show up for the start of play on the third day of his team’s second XI match against Somerset at Bromsgrove school.
He had taken three wickets for them the day before.
“The news of Josh’s passing has left us all devastated,” said Ashley Giles, the club’s CEO. “Josh was much more than a teammate; he was an integral part of our cricket family. We will all miss him terribly. All our love and prayers go out to Josh’s family and friends.”
The cause of death has not yet been shared publicly.
