• Yorkshire seamer: Duanne has scared a couple of people

Former Dolphins seamer Mathew Pillans is looking forward to being ex-Proteas fast bowler Duanne Olivier’s teammate during English county cricket this year.

Pillans, who last played franchise cricket in South Africa in December 2015, spent stints with Surrey and Leicestershire, but has since settled in Yorkshire. Olivier, meanwhile, joined the same county on a Kolpak contract earlier this year.

‘It will be good to see him again. Duanne’s been bowling really well and has scared a couple of people,’ Pillans told Yorkshire’s official website.

‘He’s at international level and has what it takes to do that for Yorkshire. It will be good to learn from someone like that and take some advice, to chat with each other and see what I can work on to get a bit extra from myself.’

Pillans recalled facing and bowling to Olivier in a first-class fixture between Free State and KwaZulu-Natal Inland in Bloemfontein in 2013.

‘One of scariest overs I’ve faced was against him. It was kind of up at my throat, and I thought he’d be expecting that when he faced me, so I chucked in the yorker and broke his toe. I hope there’s no hard feelings,’ he added.
