Miller (17 off 15 balls) sliced a wide delivery outside off stump to deep backward point as Rabada finished with figures of 2-30 in his four overs.
The Super Kings posted 154-7 thanks mainly to 74 off 55 deliveries by SA-born New Zealand opener Devon Conway.
Former Protea Rusty Theron then took 1-18 in three overs to help restrict MI New York to 137-8 and secure a 17-run win for Texas.
