CSA asked the EP Warriors what punishment they felt they deserved for breaching quota requirements during the domestic One-Day Cup.
After the league stage of the tournament, the Warriors were docked five log points by CSA for only selecting two black African players among their required six players of colour (instead of three) for their match against the Dolphins in Durban on 16 February, with the Dolphins awarded four log points.
As a result, the Warriors dropped to fourth on the log – outside of the playoffs – with the Dolphins moving up to second.

While appearing on SABC’s Final Analysis programme, EP Cricket president Donovan May said that after being reprimanded by CSA’s transformation committee for the breach, the committee made an extraordinary request.
“They asked us what we thought would be an appropriate punishment,” May said.
The Warriors believed that a warning would be sufficient, but CSA disagreed, not only stripping them of log points but also imposing a R500,000 fine.
The provincial union then asked CSA for mediation in terms of CSA’s deed of incorporation (constitution), a request which has now been granted.
“We will have the mediation in mid-April. The matter is sub judice and I will not comment further,” May told Rapport.
