The EP Warriors beat the Boland Rocks by three runs in their T20 Challenge match in Potchefstroom on Thursday.
The Warriors recovered from 33-3 in the seventh over to post a competitive 165-4 thanks to an 89-run partnership between Jordan Hermann (52 off 44 balls) and Matthew Breetzke (61* off 33), and Beyers Swanepoel’s unbeaten 22 off 10 deliveries.
The Rocks appeared to be cruising to victory at 92-2 after 11 overs, but lost wickets regularly from then on and fell agonisingly short of their target, with Beyers Swanepoel defending nine runs in the final over.
Janneman Malan finished unbeaten on 68 off 52 balls, while Hardus Viljoen could only make seven off the five deliveries he faced at the end.
Warriors fast bowler Ziyaad Abrahams took 3-35, including the key wickets of Leus du Plooy and Pieter Malan.
