David Warner has been added to the Australian squad for the remainder of the Indian Test series in place of the out-of-form Joe Burns.
Warner was unavailable for the Adelaide and Melbourne Tests due to an injury he sustained during the ODI series against India.
The 34-year-old’s return could provide a lot of stability at the top of the Australian batting lineup with Burns in particular struggling to score runs in the series.
Burns made scores of zero and four in the recent Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which India won by eight wickets.

Cricket Australia’s Selector Trevor Hohns confirmed the new additions for the third Test with Will Pucovski and Sean Abbott also back in the squad.
‘Joe Burns has been released from the squad and will return to the Brisbane Heat,’ Hohns said in a statement.
‘Unfortunately, Joe’s returns haven’t been what he or the selectors would like or what we consider he is capable of.
‘David [Warner] has made strong progress in his recovery from injury and will be given every chance to play in Sydney with another seven days until the match.
‘Will [Pucovski] is in the final stages of the graduated return to play protocols and has been symptom free for some time.’
