Shaun von Berg’s 10-wicket haul was vital to the Titans’ innings victory over the Cobras this past weekend, as they jumped to the top of the Sunfoil Series standings.
Von Berg single-handedly took out the Cobras middle order in the first innings, grabbing 5-88 to dismiss the Cobras for 235. After his side posted 400, thanks to an incredible batting display by Aiden Markram (139), the Cobras went in to bat 165 runs behind the hosts.
The Cobras only managed to post 33-3 in their first 11 overs. After Lungi Ngidi cleaned out the openers, Von Berg managed to top his first-innings display by demolishing the hosts’ batting lineup, posting figures of 5-25 to drive his side to an innings and 50-run victory over the winless Cobras.
This was Von Berg’s fourth 10-wicket haul in first-class cricket and he finds himself in good form after getting five wickets in his side’s previous victory against the Warriors.
The 30-year-old leg-break bowler has 78 first-class matches to his name, taking 286 wickets at an average of 26.59. He’ll look to take his good form into his side’s next match against the Lions.
