South Africa A cricketer Kyle Verreynne has been included in Western Province’s squad for this month’s Provincial T20 Cup.
Verreynne recently represented South Africa A against India A. Cape Cobras batsman David Bedingham, fast bowler Jason Smith and Dane Paterson have also been included. Paterson has played for the Proteas.
Fast bowler Thando Ntini is in the 13-man party, too.
‘Having the franchise and senior players in our team for the Provincial T20 Cup is a big plus for us. They will set the tone and groom the youngsters we have at our disposal,’ said Western Province coach Paul Adams.
‘The likes of Mihlali Mpongwana, Luke Philander and Ntini, who has performed well for the South Africa Emerging side, will have to build and prepare for the upcoming season.’
Western Province Cricket Association cricket services manager Clinton du Preez added: ‘We are excited with the group and blend of players, especially for our debutants. We trust that the team will gel well and make use of the experience of the senior players.’
The tournament, which will start in Potchefstroom later this week, used to be called the Africa T20 Cup and was won by Gauteng last year.
