Dané van Niekerk has failed to recover from an ankle injury in time for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Suné Luus will therefore retain the Proteas Women’s captaincy for the T20 tournament, having led the team at the 50-over World Cup in New Zealand earlier this year in Van Niekerk’s absence.
South Africa open their T20 campaign on 30 July with a Group B match against New Zealand, followed by games against England (2 August) and Sri Lanka (4 August).
Group A consists of Australia, India, Pakistan and Barbados.
The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals, which will be staged on 6 August, with the medal matches on 7 August.
