• Van Biljon insists on better execution

Batsman Pite van Biljon is confident the Jozi Stars can recover from fifth position in the six-team Mzansi Super League.

The Stars are in fifth place after just one win in four attempts – and will play the last-placed Durban Heat at the Wanderers on Friday.

Jozi Stars batsman Pite van Biljon remains bullish over their Mzansi Super League prospects ahead of their bottom-of-the-table clash against the Durban Heat in Johannesburg on Friday.

‘I don’t think there’s a feeling that we must win. The change room is still pretty relaxed. The only feeling we have is we must execute with what’s in front of us,’ said Van Biljon.

‘So, it’s a very good change room, very relaxed. We have a lot of senior players in there.

‘You know what, this tournament’s only halfway through now, so a lot can still happen. Sure, we haven’t had the best of results to come our way, but our guys are playing really well and if we can string some performances together we can get on a roll.’

The hard-hitting Van Biljon impressed against the Tshwane Spartans at SuperSport Park in Centurion earlier this week, striking 42 from 13 deliveries. His cameo featured three fours and four sixes, but the visitors lost regardless.
