An SA University XI – playing as Team SA – suffered a two-wicket defeat to Uganda at the African Games on Wednesday.
The defeat ended the South Africans’ semi-final, and medal, hopes.
Team SA were restricted to 95-9 in their 20 overs, with captain George van Heerden scoring 44 off 45 balls.
Uganda also struggled with the bat and needed a six from captain Brian Masaba off the last ball of the innings, bowled by Aphiwe Yako, to secure victory.
Roger Mukasa top-scored with 41 off 51 balls for Uganda, while Jason Raubenheimer and Lehan Botha each took two wickets for Team SA.
The South Africans won their first match against Ghana by 134 runs before losing their second to Kenya by 70 runs.
