The KZN Inland Tuskers lifted the T20 Knockout trophy after a commanding seven-wicket victory over the Eastern Storm.
The final at Willowmoore Park in Benoni had to be carried over to the reserve day after wet weather halted play on Sunday.
The Storm, having opted to bat first, posted 129-9, with opener Christopher Britz scoring 47* off 55 balls.
When rain stopped play, the Tuskers were 34-0 after 4.5 overs.
When the match resumed on Monday afternoon, openers Cameron Shekleton (54 off 43 balls) and Kagiso Rapulana (38 off 34) continued from where they left off and the Tuskers clinched victory with 10 balls to spare.
“After the struggles we’ve had in Division 1, for us to come back and put in a performance like this is immense,” said Tuskers captain Michael Erlank. “Last season was really tough for all of us, and to stand up and deliver in this way is unbelievable. I’m so proud of the boys.
“There were definitely a few nerves, especially after yesterday. We were in a good position, and then the rain came. But the boys stayed calm, relaxed, and focused on finishing the job.
“We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves because it’s still a long season, but our goal is to be playing at the top level, competing against the best, and winning this competition is a good step towards that.”
