Geoffrey Toyana has been appointed head coach of Easterns.
It will be Toyana’s second stint with the Benoni-based union, having become head coach there in 2008 shortly after retiring as a player.
Toyana joined the Lions as an assistant coach in 2011-12, before becoming head coach of the franchise the following season.
He won four trophies in six seasons with the Lions and was the favourite to replace Russell Domingo as Proteas head coach in 2017. However, CSA opted for West Indian Ottis Gibson instead and Toyana soon found himself without a job.
Toyana joined the Titans in 2019 where he has served as an assistant coach under Mandla Mashimbyi.
He replaces outgoing head coach Sandile Masengemi at Easterns.
