Andrew Birch’s five-for condemned the Titans to their second CSA T20 loss in a row; beaten by six wickets by the Warriors at Centurion.
Having won their first six matches, they were beaten by the Dolphins on Wednesday. On Friday night they were on the back foot from the moment they lost the toss and were sent in to bat by the Warriors.
They started at a reasonable rate, but they were two down in the fifth over for 39 and five down for 88 in the 12th, with Sisanda Magala leading the way by taking out Aiden Markram (23) and Heinrich Klassen (26).
Then Andrew Birch, who had set the tone by having Jonathan Vaniar caught behind for 12, with 20 runs on the board, stepped up a pace, taking another four wickets with his medium-pacers to end with 5-16 off 3.2 overs.
Albie Morkel (25) and David Wiese (36) put on 42 for the sixth wicket, but both were dismissed by Birch, and that was the end of the battle.
Despite the early loss of Somila Seyibokwe, JJ Smuts (33), Colin Ingram (50) and Colin Ackermann (53) cruised through to victory with seven balls to spare. It lifts the Warriors to second on the log, one point behind the Titans on 24.
