Donavon Ferreira hit an unbeaten 55 off 29 balls as the Titans beat South Western Districts by 54 runs in the first T20 Knock Out quarter-final in Kimberley on Tuesday.
With the returning Theunis de Bruyn scoring 48 off 33 balls at No 3, and Ferreira cutting loose after coming in at No 6, the Titans were able to post an imposing total of 192-5. Both batters hit four fours and three sixes in their innings.
SWD made a good start to their run chase with Hanno Kotze and overseas pro Leus du Plooy putting on 82 for the first wicket in 8.1 overs.
But Kotze (24) and Jean du Plessis (0) were both dismissed in the ninth over by Titans captain Aaron Phangiso. Du Plooy was then run out off the last ball of the over thanks to an excellent stop and throw at point by Simon Harmer.
SWD wickets fell regularly from then on, with another three run-outs consigning them to defeat.
The Titans will face the winner of Wednesday’s quarter-final between the KZN Dolphins and EP Warriors (10am) in the semi-finals on Thursday.
