In a day largely ruined by bad light, the Titans slowly rebuilt their first innings in response to the Warriors’ 307 but ended the day with plenty of work ahead of them.
Aiden Markram could only add a single run to his overnight score of 13, as Anrich Nortje had him caught behind by Sinethemba Qeshile soon after the restart.
Tony de Zorzi and Theunis de Bruyn then added 103 for the third wicket before Nortje bowled De Zorzi for 48 off 101 balls (eight fours).
De Bruyn stood firm to end the day on 55 not out off 94 balls (nine fours) with the Titans trailing by 177 runs with six wickets in hand. Nortje ended the day with figures of 11-4-33-3 (econ 3.00) and will be looking to run through the Titans middle order tomorrow in the hope of claiming a substantial first-innings lead in order to in order to have a shot at an outright win against the defending champions.
