The Northerns Titans will start their 4-Day Series campaign with a home clash against Western Province from Thursday.
The Titans, who lifted the T20 Challenge trophy in Potchefstroom last Saturday, will be aiming to keep the four-day silverware in Centurion.
“To start the season on a positive note with a trophy is something special for us,” said Titans assistant coach Geoffrey Toyana. “Now that’s over and it’s time to start afresh and keep our minds positive moving forward.
“We’ve got some momentum from the T20 setup and it will be important for us to carry that through. Our first two games in the 4-Day Series are at SuperSport Park and we’ve had good results at home so we are looking forward to being back.”
It’s a quick turnaround for the Titans, whose preparations for this week’s encounter have been disrupted by rain in Pretoria.
However, captain Sibonelo Makhanya said his team’s “biggest challenge would be getting over the highs of the T20 comp”.
He added: “We are fully focused on this red-ball trophy and looking forward to getting our baggy blue caps back on.”
