Proteas captain Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of the second Test against India at Newlands.
Bavuma injured his left hamstring while fielding during the first session on day one of the first Test in Centurion, with Dean Elgar taking over the captaincy.
Bavuma did not bat as the Proteas posted 408 before going on to win by an innings and 32 runs.
After the match, it was confirmed that Bavuma will miss the Newlands Test, which starts next Wednesday, and that Elgar will captain the Proteas in his last Test.
Central Gauteng Lions and South Africa A batsman Zubayr Hamza has been named as Bavuma’s replacement.
Bavuma will be assessed in two weeks’ time to determine his availability for the SA20 tournament.
