The Sri Lankan batsmen enjoyed a dominant session at SuperSport Park and have raced to 212-3 at tea on day one of the first Test against the Proteas.
Having won the toss and elected to bat first, Dinesh Chandimal and Dhananjaya de Silva led the visitors’ recovery from 54-3 with some glorious stroke play in Centurion.

Despite the Proteas being somewhat unlucky at stages with numerous deliveries shaving past the edge of the bat, the Sri Lankans despatched any delivery to the boundary that was over-pitched or on offer to be put away.
Both Chandimal and de Silva reached their respective half-centuries but the latter was unfortunately stretchered off the field after pulling up with a hip injury, while running through for a single.
De Silva left the field on 79 and appeared to be in some discomfort as he was carried up the stairs to the Sri Lankan changing room.
Niroshan Dickwella weathered a little storm from the Proteas’ pacemen and reached the break unbeaten on 11.
