Imran Tahir will hope his IPL season will kick on after his two scalps in the Chennai Super Kings’ defeat to the Kings XI Punjab on Sunday.
After a destructive innings from Chris Gayle (63 off 33 balls), the Super Kings needed their bowlers to throttle the opposition. Tahir delivered.
He reduced the Kings XI to 154-4, conceding just five runs in the 15th over. He struck on the first two balls of the over to dismiss Mayank Agarwal (30 off 19) followed by Aaron Finch for a duck.
Tahir ended on figures of 2-34 in his four overs. The two scalps from the South African spinner took him to three wickets in the competition, a slow start his 2018 IPL campaign.
He will hope his performance can help him replicate the form he showed last season, which saw him finish as the top spinner with 18 wickets in 12 matches.
