Proteas spinner Imran Tahir took a hat-trick as he propelled himself to the top of the wicket-takers list in the Pakistan Super League.
The leg break googly exponent stepped up for Multan Sultans when their opponents, Quetta Gladiators, were seven down. Hasan Khan and John Hastings were clean bowled, before Rahat Ali was trapped plumb in front. He took a review but that merely delayed Tahir’s trademark celebrations. He ended with 3-19.
The Gladiators lost their last five wickets for one run. Sohail Tanvir took two wickets in two balls to expose the tail to Tahir. They ended with 102, which Multan chased down for the loss of one wicket.
Tahir, something of a T20 specialist, now has 10 wickets from four innings at an average of 10.2 and an economy rate of 7.28. He will move on to the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League after this tournament.
Colin Ingram is also having a good tournament, ranked 10th in the batting list with 92 runs from three innings at a strike rate of 143.75. His 41 off 21 balls (5×4, 2×6) was instrumental in the Karachi Kings winning against the Gladiators in the first match of the series.
