Imran Tahir ripped through the Mumbai Indians’ top order to pick up 3-28 in Pune on Thursday.
After going unsold in the IPL Auction in February, the No 1 T20 and ODI bowler was picked up late by the Rising Pune Supergiant, and they reaped the rewards in their first game of the 10th edition of the Indian Premier League.
Tahir took three wickets in two overs as he dismissed the opposition’s dangerous top three.
Parthiv Patel was his first victim, as the ball spun around his legs and crashed into the wickets. This sent Tahir into a frenzied sprint in celebration.
He would strike twice in his next over, dismissing the Mumbai Indians’ captain Rohit Sharma on 3 and ending the destructive start by Jos Butler (38 off 19 balls) to help restrict the Mumbai Indians to 63-3.
He ended as the Rising Pune Supergiant’s best bowler on the day, taking 3-28 in his four overs, which ultimately helped set up their seven-wicket victory.
