Proteas spinner Imran Tahir has signed a three-year deal with Wedgwood Cricket Club in Barlaston.
According to the English division three club, Tahir will help their lofty ambitions to reach the North Staffordshire and South Cheshire League within the next three years.
Apart from his on-field role, Tahir has also agreed to be the head coach of the club’s junior section to develop a new crop of stars.
Meanwhile, the 42-year-old, who has not played for the Proteas since the 2019 ODI World Cup, told Pakistan publication GeoNews that he is still available for T20I selection.
“I believe I am fit enough to play in the T20 World Cup [in Australia],” he said. “I hope that the selectors will consider my performances around the world. If they do, I am sure they’ll find me a deserving candidate.”
After being omitted from the Proteas squad for last year’s T20 World Cup in the UAE, Tahir said he felt “disrespected” and “worthless”.
