There were wins for Boland, the Northerns Titans, North West Dragons and Central Gauteng Lions in the T20 Challenge on Friday.
In Paarl, Boland beat the Free State Knights in a Super Over after both teams had scored 141.
Keith Dudgeon bowled the Super Over for Boland, conceding just one run. Free State’s Dian Forrester was run out by Boland captain Clyde Fortuin, and Patrick Botha’s attempt for a maximum was caught in the deep by Pieter Malan.
Aaron Phangiso bowled the Super Over for the Knights, dismissing Grant Roelofsen with the first ball, but Fortuin’s composed batting secured the win.
Forrester had earlier impressed with both bat and ball, taking three wickets and scoring an unbeaten 42* to help the Knights tie the match.
In Durban, the Northerns Titans racked up 210-3 against the KZN Dolphins thanks to an unbeaten 81 from Rivaldo Moonsamy, 59* from Donovan Ferreira and Lhuan-dré Pretorius’ handy 39.
Despite good knocks from Marques Ackerman (42) and Jon-Jon Smuts (39), the Dolphins were restricted to 159-9, with Roelof van der Merwe taking 4-31, as the Titans secured a 51-run victory.
In Potchefstroom, the North West Dragons beat Western Province by three wickets.
Duan Jansen (3-34), Kerwin Mungroo and Wihan Lubbe (two wickets each) restricted the visitors to 142-9, with Edward Moore (38) top-scoring for Western Province.
Lubbe’s 55 and Janneman Malan’s 26 anchored the Dragons’ chase as they secured the win with two overs remaining.
At Wanderers, the Central Gauteng Lions beat the EP Warriors by 62 runs after posting an imposing 239-4.
Wandile Makwethu led with 55 and was well supported by Mitchell van Buuren (41*), Reeza Hendricks (41), Connor Esterhuizen (40) and Delano Potgieter (36).
Junaid Dawood then starred with the ball for the Lions, taking 5-30 to restrict the Warriors to 177-6, despite efforts from Andile Mogakane (41) and Patrick Kruger (34).
