Simon Harmer put the Titans in a spin as they struggled to 111-5, chasing the Warriors’ first innings of 282 in their Sunfoil match in East London.
The off-spinner took four for 37, at a miserly 2.17 an over, helping to overcome the fact that the Warriors fell from 203-4 overnight to 282. Chris Morris, who ended with 4-42, Junior Dala (3-67) and Shaun von Berg (3-75) had given the Titans a chance as they sought their second win of the Sunfoil series.
Harmer led a late push-back, scoring 46 off 79 balls, and was last out to Von Berg.
Tladi Bokako made an early breakthrough in the Warriors’ innings, dismissing Toni de Zorzi for 0, and Harmer stepped up to take the next three wickets for the addition of 62 runs.
Farhaan Behardien was leading the fightback, on 43, alongside Morris (5).
In Pietermaritzburg, the Cobras were engaged in an arm-wrestle with the Dolphins, ending day two on 326-7 in reply to the hosts’ first-innings offering of 285.
The Cobras fought back from 3-52 with sterling performances by Stiaan van Zyl (63), Kyle Verreyne (88) and Aviwe Mgijima, who was unbeaten on 95 at the close.
