Ben Stokes fires back at Matthew Hayden after the former Australia batsman’s criticism of the England squad ahead of the Ashes.
Hayden told the Brisbane Heat podcast that England ‘are a rabble’ and Stoke’s was not happy.
‘The Poms are a rabble,’ said Hayden. ‘I look down half of the list and I honestly don’t even know who half of these guys are.’
Hayden did, however, praise some of the senior players in the squad.
‘This is a place, like India, which it’s a tough place to tour,’ he said.
‘What they have got is some extremely experienced fast bowlers in Broad and Anderson. You have two particularly good batsmen as well in Cook and Joe Root.
‘Apart from that — you throw a blanket over those four — who are they?’
Stokes took to Twitter to speak his mind.
