Proteas fast-bowler Dale Steyn has apologised for his comments regarding the IPL and PSL that he suggested were taken ‘out of context’ after coming under fire on social media.
On Thursday the Pakistan Super League was postponed indefinitely, which came just after his comments suggesting that the PSL was ‘more rewarding’ than the IPL. The Indian fanbase, in particular, did not take his comments lightly.
When the PSL was called off, several Steyn-inspired memes surfaced all over Twitter.

Steyn did however apologise for his comments, taking to Twitter to say he never meant to paint the IPL in a bad light.
‘IPL has been nothing short of amazing in my career, as well as other players too. My word were never intended to be degrading, insulting, or comparing of any leagues. Social media and words out of context can often do that. My apologies if this has upset anyone. Much love,’ Steyn Tweeted.
