Fast bowler Dale Steyn has insisted the Cape Town Blitz have had a better 2019 Mzansi Super League campaign than a lowly position on the six-team log suggests.
The Blitz currently occupy fifth position in the standings, after four wins and four defeats in eight matches. They will play the table-topping Nelson Mandela Bay Giants at Newlands on Friday.

‘I think we’ve played very good cricket to be honest. The games that we’ve lost, we could have easily won those. So I don’t think we’ve been playing badly,’ said Steyn.
‘Our position where we are on the log shows a team that hasn’t been doing well, but I actually think we’ve been playing really good cricket. We’ve just been on the wrong side of it, just unlucky on one or two little moments in a contest that we’ve lost.’
Friday’s fixture will be the Blitz’s last of the season at Newlands. Whether they secure a berth in the MSL play-offs remains in the balance.
‘It’s awesome to play in Cape Town. It’s my favourite ground in the world. Honestly, it’s the best place,’ added Steyn.
‘Our last game there is on Friday and we look forward to ending well.’
