St David’s Marist Inanda Prep School are hosting an under-12 festival involving eight schools this weekend, writes THEO GARRUN.
St David’s played 50-over games on Friday and will play a 10-over a side carnival knockout tournament on Saturday, before finishing off with a T20 match on Sunday morning.
Friday’s games saw some mammoth scores being racked up. Somerset College of Somerset West made 419-6 in their 50 overs, with two batsmen making centuries and one scoring 93. Tyrone Reith retired on 125, and Michael du Toit stepped down undefeated on 105. Clifton were then bowled out for 138, giving Somerset a 293-run win.
St David’s Prep’s Joseph MacRobert got the top score of the day, smashing 145 off 101 runs (24 fours and three sixes) as his side ammassed 396-8 against Heronbridge. Heronbridge made 239, falling 157 runs short of their target.
In the other games, St Peter’s edged Cornwall Hill by eight runs and Montrose beat the St Stithians U12B team by three wickets.

On Saturday the schools will be divided into two pools and each will play three matches in the morning. The two pool winners will meet in the final at 3.45pm, preceded by the playoffs for the other positions.
