Sri Lanka fast bowler Lahiru Kumara was left out of the final squad for the first Test against England in Galle as a result of reportedly breaking the team curfew on Sunday evening.
Kumara’s place in the squad has been taken by Dushmantha Chameeera, who did not make the starting XI.
Kumara is understood to have broken the team curfew on Sunday evening, reports ESPNCricinfo.
Sri Lanka have cracked down on player discipline in recent months after two players, Danushka Gunathilaka and Jeffrey Vandersay, violated the team code in the recent series against South Africa and the West Indies.
Kumara starred in the recent Test series against the West Indies, snagging 17 wickets at an average of 19.88 in the three Tests. He has taken 40 Test wickets in his 12 Tests to date, with best-innings figures of 6-122.
England are currently 14-2 off the first four overs of the match, having lost debutant Rory Burns for nine and Moeen Ali for a duck, both victims of opener Suranga Lakmal.
