Sri Lanka will be without fast bowler Nuwan Pradeep for Tuesday’s World Cup fixture against Bangladesh in Bristol.
Pradeep has been sidelined by a hand injury sustained during practice on Sunday.
‘He suffered a dislocation and a cut in his small finger on his bowling arm, and he will need a week’s time to recover from the injury,’ read a statement from Sri Lanka Cricket.
‘Nuwan was given treatment at the hospital, while the doctors reset his dislocated finger, and the cut on his finger was closed with stitches. He was also administered with antibiotics.’
Pradeep was named Player of the Match on the back of four for 31 in victory over Afghanistan at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, Wales, last week. The figures marked the best of a seven-year ODI career, surpassing the four for 34 gathered against Scotland in Edinburgh earlier this year.
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have contested 45 ODIs since the first in 1986. The former have won 36 and the latter seven, with two no-results.
Bangladesh enjoyed a superb start to the tournament with victory over South Africa at The Oval in London. They later lost to England in Cardiff, despite a century from all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.
