The Proteas will do battle with the Springboks next Thursday in their Nelson Mandela Legacy Cup match.
Several of the heroes of the Proteas’ seven successive victories over Australia in the Test and limited-overs formats will headline the team.
The Proteas have concentrated on T20 specialists such as David Miller, Imran Tahir and Aaron Phangiso with the only uncapped player being wicketkeeper Mangaliso Mosehle, who was the Player of the Match in last season’s T20 Challenge Final.
With the restrictions placed on the run-ups of the quick bowlers in the Proteas squad they are expected to make extensive use of their spin bowling options.
This is the third edition of this match that honours the country’s founding president and has the aim of raising substantial funds for the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
