Fine bowling by South Africa A’s openers was not enough to reel in India A.
South Africa A lost convincingly to India A in their third-place playoff match at the end of the quadrangular series at Bengaluru. Beuran Hendricks (3-39) and Robbie Frylinck (2-35) got among the wickets and were economical with the ball, but their opponents took a liking to the rest of the attack to put together 275-7 off their 50 overs.
Shreyas Iyer and Ambati Rayudu both scored 60s and had solid backup from their teammates.
In response to India A’s total, only Pieter Malan (30), Senuran Muthusamy (40) and Farhaan Behardien (38 not out) offered any resistance with the bat as South Africa A were bowled out for 151 off 37.1 overs, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3-33), Deepak Chahar (2-31) and Mayank Markande (2-30) getting among the wickets.
