Kelly Smuts surpassed Michael Clarke’s record to set the highest-ever score by a batsman in the Lancashire League on Sunday.
The 27-year-old South African, who’s the younger brother of Proteas T20 player JJ Smuts, struck 211 off 139 balls (23 fours, 11 sixes) for Todmorden in their game against Enfield.
This was the highest score ever achieved by a batsman in the 125-year history of the Lancashire League, eclipsing the previous record of 200 not out, held by former Australian captain Michael Clarke.
Clarke tweeted his congratulations in acknowledgment of Smuts’ record-breaking knock.
