Marizanne Kapp produced a fine all-round performance but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Sydney Sixers collapsing to their third WBBL defeat.
Kapp was second-highest scorer with 32 off 32 against the Melbourne Stars, behind Ashleigh Gardner (43), and took two wickets for 18, including the dangerous Meg Lanning. But there had been little support in the batting front and they were attempting the impossible in defending 111.
Dane van Niekerk, in her second game for the Sixers, was again dismissed without scoring, and she took the third wicket to fall, which gave the Sixers some hope as the Stars reeled at 38-3.
But Jess Cameron (45*) and Katie Mack (48) saw out the chase with little difficulty.
It was the Stars’ second win of the double header, winning the first, also by seven wickets, on the back of Lanning’s 66, chasing 122. Kapp took 2-21 in that match for a series total of 5-72.
The Sydney Sixers remain at the bottom of the log with one win from four matches.
