Proteas spinner Tabraiz Shamsi is almost certain to miss the final Test against Sri Lanka after he returned to South Africa for family reasons.
The left-hand chinaman, who took four wickets in the Proteas’ humiliating 278-run first Test defeat against Sri Lanka, flew back home on Monday. Cricket South Africa confirmed that a return date for Shamsi is yet to be established.
The Proteas travelled to Sri Lanka with three spinners in their squad. Titans spinner Shaun von Berg didn’t play in the first Test and is certain to fill Shamsi’s place in the second Test lineup if he does not return in time.
The Proteas take on Sri Lanka in the final Test in Colombo, which starts on Friday.
