Proteas spinner Tabraiz Shamsi says bowlers should be more inclined to mankad until batsmen adjust to staying behind the line while a ball is being bowled.
Shamsi responded to a social-media post where former Australian spinner Brad Hogg questioned batsmen’s intent to take advantage of a possible run while bowlers run in to bowl.
This came after Dhawal Kulkarni was seen moving up the pitch, while Lungi Ngidi was bowling the final over in this past weekend’s IPL match between the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
Mumbai required two runs to win off the final delivery with Pollard facing Ngidi. The West Indian and Kularni managed to scamper through for two runs to seal a tight victory for last year’s champions.
Mankad. . .mankad and keep on mankadding until batsmen learn to stay behind the line just like bowlers have to keep their foot behind the line while bowling
And if in the heat of the moment, somewhere down the line if I end up STEALING a few yards as a non striker MANKAD ME TOO! https://t.co/LDt7gcpzRe

After the game Hogg tweeted: ‘Sorry again for my harp. Last night last ball 2 runs needed and the non striker again taking advantage. Is this in the spirit of the game.’
Shamsi, though, responded to Hogg’s take by saying the only way to get the non-striker’s batsman back in his crease was to force a mankade dismissal.
‘Mankad [sic] … mankad and keep on mankadding [sic] until batsmen learn to stay behind the line just like bowlers have to keep their foot behind the line while bowling. And if in the heat of the moment, somewhere down the line if I end up STEALING a few yards as a non striker MANKAD ME TOO!,’ Shami stated.
The South African later responded to a rule-change suggestion, which proposed a bowler’s no-ball only counts if the non-striker is behind the crease at time of release and that one run be deducted ‘if any are scored if batsman leaves crease early, just like a short run is called’.
BRILLIANT IDEA
This makes sooo much sense and the technology is already available and in place nowdays to check for no balls and all of this can be checked in the same frame without wasting an extra time
All that’s needed is for the law makers to approve this https://t.co/73z4RSdv2Y

Shamsi agreed with the proposal by adding: ‘This makes sooo much sense and the technology is already available and in place nowdays [sic] to check for no balls and all of this can be checked in the same frame without wasting an extra time All that’s needed is for the law makers to approve this.’
