Wrist-spinner Tabraiz Shamsi is eager to capitalise on conditions at his adopted home venue during the Mzansi Super League.
The Titans star will play for the Paarl Rocks in the inaugural tournament and is confident of succeeding at Boland Park, in particular.
‘I always enjoy bowling in Paarl, it does offer assistance to spin bowlers and the boundaries are quite big in comparison to other grounds in the country which is also a help,’ he said.
‘I think that in the home games, the pitch will be suitable for my type of bowling, but with that said, you still have to do the job on the day. I won’t take anything for granted and I am looking forward to playing in front of passionate support in Paarl. It is going to be exciting.’
Under the leadership of Henry Davids and later Faf du Plessis, Shamsi is especially eager to impress against the Durban Heat’s Hashim Amla and the Tshwane Spartans’ AB de Villiers.
‘I am fortunate to have Faf in my team. It will be a wonderful challenge playing against Proteas teammates with one particular person being batsman Amla, who is one of the best players of spin in the world,’ he added.
‘I am looking forward to challenging myself against him. Another one is AB. What I’m not looking forward to is facing Jozi Stars fast bowler Kagiso Rabada.’
