Former West Indies captain Darren Sammy has appealed to the ICC and other governing bodies to help steer the fight against racism.
Sammy took to Twitter on Tuesday morning in the wake of ‘BlackTuesday’, to join the global fight against racism amid the death of American George Floyd, which led to mass protests across the country and even over the world.
The 36-year-old all-rounder has urged the cricketing authorities to take a similar stand and expressed his disgust that the respective bodies haven’t done enough to tackle the injustice.
CSA delighted with government ruling
‘Right now if the cricket world [is] not standing against the injustice against people of color after seeing that last video of that foot down the next [neck] of my brother you are also part of the problem,’ read Sammy’s first tweet.
‘@ICC and all the other boards are you guys not seeing what’s happening to ppl [sic] like me? Are you not gonna speak against the social injustice against my kind. This is not only about America. This happens everyday. #BlackLivesMatter now is not the time to be silent. I wanna hear u.
‘For too long black people have suffered. I’m all the way in St Lucia and I’m frustrated If you see me as a teammate then you see #GeorgeFloyd Can you be part of the change by showing your support. #BlackLivesMatter,’ he added.

On Monday, though, the ECB also took to social media with a picture from last year’s Cricket World Cup final with Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid hugging each other to celebrate winning the competition.
The caption read: ‘We stand for diversity, We stand against racism.’
