Philip Salt’s unbeaten 77 set up the Pretoria Capitals’ 23-run win against the Sunrisers Eastern Cape at St George’s Park on Thursday.
The English opener struck 11 fours in his 47-ball innings, and received good support from Jimmy Neesham (37 off 28 balls) and captain Wayne Parnell (29 off nine) in the latter stages of the innings as the visitors posted 193-6.
The Capitals had lost Will Jacks (six) and Rilee Rossouw (four) early on, before Salt helped stabilise things with Theunis de Bruyn (19) and Senuran Muthusamy (13).
The players twice had to leave the field for rain, but no overs were lost.

The Sunrisers never fully recovered from a slow start to their run chase – they were 34-3 in the eighth over when Aiden Markram was dismissed for five.
Opener JJ Smuts went on to top-score with 66 off 51 balls (six fours, four sixes), while Tom Abell (40* off 24) and James Fuller (27* off 12) remained unbeaten.
