Matthew Breetzke, Dean Elgar and Colin Ingram were the standout South African performers on the opening weekend of the T20 Blast.

Matthew Breetzke scored 51 off 30 deliveries (five fours, three sixes) for the Northamptonshire Steelbacks in their eight-wicket win over the Notts Outlaws.

Colin Ingram started his campaign with 50 off 40 deliveries (four fours, two sixes) for Glamorgan in their 19-run loss against Surrey, before making a vital 39 off 23 balls (five fours, one six) in their 25-run victory over Sussex.

Joburg-born teammate Chris Cooke also starred against Surrey, scoring a quickfire 40 off just 15 deliveries (three fours, three sixes).

Dean Elgar was the highest-scoring South African on the opening weekend, with 77 off of 51 balls (eight fours, two sixes) in Essex’s four-wicket loss to Somerset. The former Proteas Test captain also scored an influential 32 off 21 deliveries (three fours, two sixes) in Essex’s four-wicket victory against Middlesex.
