• Saffas Abroad: Rossouw stars in LPL final

Rilee Rossouw and Ryan Rickelton were the standout South African performers abroad over the past week.

    Lanka Premier League

Rilee Rossouw smashed 106* off just 53 deliveries (nine fours, seven sixes) in the Jaffna Kings’ nine-wicket victory over the Galle Marvels in the LPL final.

Rossouw, who scored 389 runs in 11 matches at an average of 43.22 and a strike rate of 173.66, was named Player of the Tournament.

In the first qualifier playoff, former Proteas all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius took 4-23 in the Galle Marvels’ seven-wicket victory over the Jaffna Kings.

    Major League Cricket

Welkom-born Andries Gous scored 59 off 48 balls (three fours, four sixes) in the Washington Freedom’s 94-run victory over MI New York.

Ryan Rickelton hit 89 off 52 deliveries (seven fours, six sixes) for the Seattle Orcas in their four-wicket loss to the Los Angeles Knight Riders.

Twenty-one-year old Dewald Brevis scored 56 off 36 balls (five fours, three sixes) for MI New York in their nail-biting three-run defeat to the San Francisco Unicorns.

Former Proteas captain Faf du Plessis maintained his excellent form in the competition with 55 off 36 deliveries (five fours, five sixes) in the Texas Super Kings’ 42-run defeat to the Washington Freedom.

Quinton de Kock‘s 62 off 33 balls (eight fours, three sixes) was not enough to avoid defeat, with his Seattle Orcas going down by six wickets to the San Francisco Unicorns.
