Derbyshire’s Leus du Plooy fell just short of a century after being dismissed by Leicestershire’s Wiaan Mulder, who claimed a five-for in the English County Championship.

Leicestershire’s draw with Derbyshire featured three South Africans in Du Plooy, Mulder and Colin Ackermann.
Ackermann and Mulder were both dismissed for ducks in their first innings.
Du Plooy then top-scored in Derbyshire’s reply with 94 off 150 deliveries, before eventually falling to Mulder, who atoned for his batting failure with bowling figures of 5-67.
Ackermann (16) and Mulder (seven) also missed out with the bat in Leicestershire’s second innings.

Simon Harmer scored 34 off 61 balls in Essex’s first innings against Surrey before picking up a wicket with his off-spin during Kent’s reply.
Harmer contributed only nine runs to Essex’s second effort but bagged two wickets in Surrey’s final innings as the match finished with honours even.
Northamptonshire and Somerset also played to a draw, with Ricardo Vasconcelos scoring a first-innings 70 off 103 deliveries for Northamptonshire, followed by a second-innings 26 off 48.

Lancashire captain Dane Vilas had a forgettable outing against Nottinghamshire, being dismissed for a golden duck in the first innings and scoring just two runs in the second.
Nottinghamshire’s Matthew Montgomery scored a first-innings nine off 51 balls but notched a handy 30 runs off 40 balls in the final innings as the match ended in a draw.
Kyle Abbott‘s Hampshire’s received an innings-and-84-run lashing at the hands of Warwickshire. The fast bowler took two wickets, and scored 18 and nought with the bat.
