• Saffas Abroad: Verreynne, Ingram impress in England

    Nottinghamshire’s Kyle Verreynne and Glamorgan’s Colin Ingram were the star South African performers in the second round of the County Championship.

    County Championship Division One

    David Bedingham scored 58 off 104 deliveries (nine fours) and 45 off 71 (seven fours) for Durham in a one-wicket defeat to Warwickshire.

    Proteas wicketkeeper-batsman Kyle Verreynne hit 128 off 242 deliveries (16 fours) in Nottinghamshire’s draw with Essex.

    Former Proteas seamer Kyle Abbott contributed with ball and bat, taking 2-48 and 2-44, while scoring 37 off 27 deliveries (five fours, one six) in Hampshire’s drawn match with Surrey.

    Migael Pretorius scored 59 off 63 deliveries (eight fours, one six) in Somerset’s 260-run loss to Sussex.

    SA-born former England international Dawid Malan struck 98 off 133 balls (12 fours, one six) and 76 off 64 (three fours, three sixes) to lead Yorkshire to a massive 504-run win against Worcestershire.

    County Championship Division Two

    Joburg-born England international Keaton Jennings‘ excellent form continued with 96 off 218 balls (14 fours, one six) and 49 off 133 (four fours) as Lancashire drew with Northamptonshire.

    Derbyshire captain Wayne Madsen hit a second-innings 96 off 114 balls (13 fours, one six) in their drawn match against Leicestershire.

    Former SA U19 batsmenΒ Graeme van Buuren scored 48 off 84 deliveries (two fours, one six) for Gloucestershire, before ex-Proteas batsmen Colin Ingram made 103 off 174 balls (13 fours, one six) and 77 off 162 (nine fours) as Glamorgan held on for a draw.
