The match also featured Durham’s David Bedingham, who scored 101 off 114 balls (13 fours, two sixes) to become the first Durham cricketer to score four consecutive centuries (144, 101, 103, 101).
The Proteas batsman has now scored five centuries in six matches for Durham this season.

Hampshire’s Kyle Abbott was on song with the ball in a mammoth innings-and-278-run win over Surrey, claiming his 24th five-for for Hampshire with figures of 5-25.

Essex’s Dean Elgar scored 77 off 140 balls (10 fours) during his side’s innings-and-96-run win over Kent, while teammate Simon Harmer bagged figures of 4-32.

Gloucestershire captain Graeme van Buuren was the standout South African in a draw with Derbyshire, scoring 187 off 236 balls (23 fours, three sixes).

Northamptonshire’s Ricardo Vasconcelos, who was born in Johannesburg and educated at St Stithians College, scored an unbeaten 129 off 183 balls (17 fours) in a draw with Yorkshire.
