CSA still hopes to reach an agreement with the SABC to broadcast international cricket played in South Africa this season.
News24 Sport reports that the SABC sent an email to staff and freelancers last Friday to inform them that it wouldn’t be carrying any Proteas-related content for the foreseeable future on its platforms.
“The SA men’s and women’s incoming events, including the [women’s] Tri-Series commentary and reports on radio, are terminated with immediate effect, owing to issues with CSA,” it read.
However, CSA CEO Pholetsi Moseki remained hopeful a deal would be done before the Tuesday deadline.
“In all honesty, our negotiations with the SABC over the past few years have invariably been a bit challenging,” he told News24 Sport.
“We’ve experienced a tendency for agreements to be concluded in a last-gasp manner. I’ve even had the experience of everything being signed the morning of a game.”
The three-match men’s ODI series between the Proteas and England starts on Friday.
