Some Proteas players could fly to Pakistan for a triangular ODI series straight after the SA20 final at the Wanderers on 8 February.
The SA20 announced the fixtures for the 2025 tournament on Monday.
The Proteas’ first match of a Tri-Series that also involves New Zealand is on 10 February.
TimesLive reports that while CSA will have up to 40 players on standby to potentially travel to Pakistan due to the SA20, there won’t be a repeat of last season when the Proteas were forced to select a C-team for a two-Test series in New Zealand.
“Multiple groups [of players] will be going [to Pakistan],” explained CSA CEO Pholetsi Moseki.
“A first group will leave on the Wednesday [5 February] once the playoffs of the SA20 start, with the rest of the squad for the Tri-Series then heading over on different days depending on the players’ participation for their franchises in the SA20.
“The guys who are in the squad, and are playing in the [SA20] final will probably fly out that evening [8 February].
“There will be visas galore. We will probably make applications for 40 players. But it won’t be a disaster like we had with New Zealand earlier this year.”
