India Women demolished the Proteas Women by seven wickets, after bundling out the hosts for 119 in Potchefstroom.
The SA Ladies never really got themselves going, with good starts ending as fast as they began.
Laura Wolvaardt (17 off 33 balls), Trisha Chetty (28 off 48 balls), Mignon du Preez (31 off 47 balls) and Marizanne Kapp (23 off 38 balls) top-scored for the hosts, as the rest of the batting lineup crumbled to a dominant bowling display from Jhulan Goswami (3-22) and Shikha Pandey (3-22).
Goswami’s three-for took her tally to 181 as the 34-year-old became the highest ODI wicket taker in history.
Shabnim Ismail got the Proteas off to the perfect start by getting the early wicket of Deepti Sharma for a duck in the opening over. This put India into a cautious mode, as they crept to 32 runs off 16.3 overs, before the fall of their second wicket, Moseline Daniels dismissing Poonam Raut on 12 off 33 balls.
Mona Meshram scored a pedestrian 38 off 93 deliveries before Ismail struck for her second as the visitors were reduced to 71-3 by the 27th over.
India continued to nibble away at the target thanks to a dominant knock from Mithali Raj (51 off 65 balls), as India completed their chase with nine overs remaining, to claim a seven-wicket victory by posting 121-3.
