• SA U19 widen the net for Namibia tour

SA U19 coach Malibongwe Maketa has made five changes to his squad for a three-match 50-over series in Namibia later this month.

The tour marks a welcome return for Lions fast bowler JJ Bason, who missed the 2-1 series win against England U19 earlier this year.

Western Province all-rounder Waco Bassick and Lions wicketkeeper Kamogelo Phiri earn their maiden call-ups to the SA U19s, while the Dolphins pace duo of Dayalan Boyce and Bayanda Majola have made the step up from the SA U19 Emerging side that toured Zimbabwe last year and competed in this season’s Division 2 One-Day Cup.

Batsmen Muhammad Bulbulia (North West) and Jason Rowles (Lions) will share the captaincy duties.

The series, which forms part of preparation for the 2026 U19 World Cup, gets underway on 28 April at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek. The second match will follow on 30 April at the same venue, before the series wraps at the High Performance Oval on 2 May.

SA U19 squad: Muhammad Bulbulia (c, North West), Jason Rowles (c, Lions), Waco Bassick (Western Province), JJ Basson (Lions), Daniel Bosman (Western Province), Dayalan Boyce (Dolphins), Paul James (Western Province), Enathi Khitshini (Garden Route Badgers), Adnaan Lagadien (Western Province), Bayanda Majola (Dolphins), Bandile Mbatha (Dolphins), Lethabo Phahlamohlaka (Titans), Kamogelo Phiri (Lions), Ntando Soni (Dolphins), Jorich van Schalkwyk (Titans).
