Fast bowler Gerald Coetzee has been ruled out of South Africa U19’s ongoing tour of India due to a side strain.
Coetzee will be sidelined for up to six weeks – and has been replaced by the Lions’ Jarred Jardine.
‘I think it’s very tough on young Gerald. He fought very hard to be fit and ready for this tour after his ankle operation last year. Hard luck to him for this particular tour, but he will bounce back better and stronger, that’s what is important,’ said South Africa U19 head coach Lawrence Mahatlane.
‘Jarred is another one who had to leave the tour of England early because of injury after playing in the first Test. This is now a big opportunity for him, and hopefully he will come in and add value to the team.’
